Milena Páez Silva Joins the Consortium as Graduate Assistant

The UNC-Duke Consortium for Latin American and Caribbean Studies welcomes Milena Páez Silva as a new Graduate Assistant, a role she began in mid-October 2025.
Milena is a STEM educator with a background in physics and several years of teaching experience in Chile. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Education Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her work brings together teaching, emerging technologies, and a strong interest in designing meaningful and accessible learning experiences.
In her role with the Consortium, Milena will support outreach initiatives that connect educational resources with K–12 teachers and students across the region. She will work on the development and implementation of activities that highlight Latin American and Caribbean content in classrooms, helping educators integrate these perspectives into their teaching.
She will also contribute to events such as Southern Skies, collaborating with partners to create engaging learning opportunities for school communities. In addition, she will help design and produce ready-to-use instructional materials for teachers, with the goal of making it easier to bring global and regional content into everyday classroom practice.
Through this work, Milena hopes to support educators, expand access to high-quality resources, and strengthen the connection between schools, communities, and Latin American and Caribbean studies.
