The Boriqua Scholars interdisciplinary working group brings together Puerto Rican history and anthropological inquiry to couple investigations of Puerto Rico’s colonial status with the broader cultural, social, and epistemological contributions of the archipelago and its diaspora. This working group provides a critical space for prioritizing the role of Puerto Rico within Caribbean history and cultural studies.

Invitation to the First Meeting of the UNC-Duke Working Group Boriqua Scholars on the Move
At a time when the incoming administration supports callous jokes about our archipelago, our research is necessary to combat ignorance, cruelty, and disregard for Puerto Rico. We invite you to join us for the introductory meeting of Boriqua Scholars on the Move, a working group dedicated to advancing critical scholarship, amplifying our voices, and fostering solidarity among Puerto Rican scholars.
This meeting will provide an opportunity to meet fellow scholars, discuss our plans for the working group, and lay the groundwork for meaningful collaboration. A meal will be provided, courtesy of the working group.
