The Latin America National and Transnational Identity in Visual Culture Production from the XX and XXI Centuries Working Group seeks to understand the history and criticism of marginalized subjects in national and international visual imagery as related to the U.S. Latino and Latin American populations. From an interdisciplinary perspective encompassing history, humanities, and visual studies, we will take historically central visual texts as a point of departure to understand the intersectional forms of representation based upon race, class, and gender, amongst other identity factors, to better understand national and international discourses of belonging and otherness.
